The 1946 health issue, like the 1946 Peace issue which was
also designed by James Berry, focused on the returning armed forces after
the end of the Second World War and a return to peacetime activities. The
soldier is lifting the child over a stile and symbolically into an era of
peace and prosperity.
The scenery in the background is generic and
does not represent any specific location.
