This stamp issue was withdrawn before issue on the 3rd of August 2022.

This decision was made following additional feedback from key stakeholders that was received after products were printed. While extensive consultation took place in the development of the designs, some expectations were not met and as a result the stamps could not be issued as printed on the planned date.

New Zealand Post Stamps and Collectables commented: "The 50th anniversary of the presentation of the Maori Language Petition is an important commemoration for New Zealand, and we hope to acknowledge it at a future date."
