For the first time, the 1970 Christmas issue had multiple stamps to match
the principal overseas and domestic postage rates.
The 2½
cent stamp features the central detail from 'Adoration of the
Child' by Correggio. The 3 cent stamp features 'The Nativity',
one of six stained glass windows from the First Presbyterian Church in
Invercargill, gifted in memory of William and Eliza Asher. The 10 cent
stamp features a stylised graphic of the tower of the Roman Catholic
Church, Sockburn, Christchurch which was built in the 1960s.
